Challenge 1: Capture color contrast showing how the season is changing
Instructions:
Create an interesting photograph or a series of photographs using some of the following suggestions:
- Flower Gardens: Look for gardens with a variety of colorful flowers and focus on capturing the contrasting colors, such as red and yellow, purple and orange, or pink and green.
- Fruit and Vegetable Stands: Visit local farmers’ markets or stands that sell fresh produce. Capture the vibrant colors of different fruits and vegetables, such as red tomatoes against green leaves or orange pumpkins against a brown backdrop.
- Outdoor Art Installations: Explore any public art installations in your neighborhood that feature contrasting colors. This could include sculptures, murals, or installations that showcase a mix of bright and bold hues.
- Community Gardens: Visit community gardens that display a variety of plants and flowers. Focus on capturing the contrasting colors of different flowers or the interplay between colorful vegetables and green foliage.
- Seasonal Decorations: Look for houses or stores that decorate their exteriors with seasonal items. Capture the contrasting colors of fall-themed decorations like colorful wreaths, cornstalks, or Halloween decorations.
- Tree Leaves: Capture the vibrant hues of changing leaves on trees. Look for trees that showcase a mix of green, yellow, orange, and red foliage, highlighting the transition from summer to autumn.

Instructions:

- Graffiti-covered dumpsters: Look for dumpsters or trash bins that have been adorned with colorful graffiti. The contrasting colors of the graffiti against the dullness of the dumpster can create a visually striking image.
- Mismatched fences: Explore your neighborhood for fences that have sections or panels painted in contrasting colors. The juxtaposition of different hues can make for an interesting composition.
- Unconventional street signs: Pay attention to any unique or creatively painted street signs in your neighborhood. Look for signs with contrasting colors or unusual designs that stand out from the typical street signage.
- Colorful utility boxes: Spot utility boxes, such as electrical or telecommunication boxes, that have been painted in vibrant colors. The contrast between the bright colors and the surrounding environment can create a visually captivating image.
- Garage doors or shutters: Keep an eye out for garage doors or shutters that are painted in contrasting colors. These unexpected pops of color can add visual interest to your photographs.
- Quirky mailboxes: Look for mailboxes in your neighborhood that have been personalized or painted in contrasting colors. The combination of different hues and the unique designs can make for an interesting and colorful subject.
- Colorful street furniture: Seek out benches, bus stops, or other street furniture that have been painted in contrasting colors. These elements can add a playful and eye-catching touch to your photographs.
